A few days ago, more than 100 passengers were trapped in a stranded monorail train in Kuala Lumpur. The train was halted when safety mechanism of the train detected mulfunction of the train's traction. The safety mechanism of the train had cut off the power supply of the train to prevent the train from uncontrolled acceleration. In case of runaway train, it can be stopped using safety cushion installed at the end of the rail track as shown in the picture. Since the train has a built in safety mechanism, it is unlikely to encounter the runaway train scenario.
